Brentford and Millwall will be united in remembering the sacrifices made by British and Allied servicemen and women during a century of conflict since the outbreak of the First World War in August 1914 this afternoon.
The teams meet in a Sky Bet Championship match at The Den at 3pm.
Brentford will wear special shirts with poppies while Millwall will be wearing a unique commemorative camouflage kit, sanctioned by the Football League, for the fixture, with many fans in the stands sporting similar replica kits.
The beneficiary of funds raised from sales of this kit is the Headley Court Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre in Surrey.
1pm - Members of the Army Medical Services (AMS) women’s football team, along with Millwall Lionesses’ players, will conduct a bucket collection around the stadium with proceeds going to Headley Court.
2.40pm - Pitchside presentation involving old players, including former Millwall and Brentford player Doug Allder, where a commemorative plaque remembering four Millwall players killed during the First World War (John Williams, Joe Dines, George Porter, Charles Green) will be received. World War II veterans, courtesy of the London Taxi-Drivers War Disabled Benevolent Fund, will also be present.
2.50pm - Teams and officials take the field followed by six Headley Court personnel carrying the matchball. Following the ‘Respect’ line-ups, players of both teams will form a guard of honour through which Headley Court personnel will proceed, taking the matchball to the centre of the pitch. Following the coin toss and preliminary photographs, players and Headley Court personnel will form a circle (in the centre circle), PA announcer will announce the imminent commencement of the ‘period of silence’ which will start and end on the referee’s whistle.
A special commemorative 84 page match programme has been produced, priced at £4, with £1 donation to Headley Court whileadditional Headley Court personnel will be in attendance as guests with their families in Executive Lounge and Boxes.
Brentford's shirts will then be auctioned to raises funds for The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal as part of the #BidtoRemember campaign.
