Sullay Kaikai wants to excite Brentford fans after he became the club’s sixth summer arrival, joining on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace. The 21-year-old winger completed his move from Selhurst Park earlier today and said he was looking forward to getting going with his new teammates.
“I am delighted to join this club,” Sullay told Bees Player after joining. “It is a big club and I like the style of football. It is very attractive and I am just looking forward to starting now. I knew a fair bit before I joined. I had played against Brentford a fair bit in the Under-21s and in pre-season friendlies and I know a few of the players. It is a good environment to be in and the quicker I settle in, the better it will be for me and the better I will perform.”
The youngster spent most of last season out on loan with Sky Bet League One side Shrewsbury Town where he finished the season as their top scorer. Sullay scored 12 goals for The Shrews last season, including seven in his last 12 games, and wants to bring that form into the start of time at Griffin Park.
“I am a fast attacker and I like to come in off the line to have shots and create chances,” said Sullay. “All round I feel that I am an exciting player and that is what I will bring to the team. I scored a few goals for Shrewsbury Town last season and I played well. I am just looking to replicate that same form.”
Sullay made his Crystal Palace debut on the final day of last season, contributing an assist in The Eagles 4-1 defeat to Southampton. His Premier League debut was a long way from his early loan spells with Crawley Town and Cambridge United but Sullay feels he still has more improving to do.
“From every loan that I have been on I have improved,” said Sullay. “I want to do the same here, get some minutes under my belt and score as many goals as I can. It was a good experience to play in the Premier League and see the level that I need to get to. I know that I will improve a lot with this loan.”
