Ben Mee shared his thoughts following Brentford’s 3-1 victory over Luton Town – and revealed the inspiration behind his celebration following his second-half goal at Gtech Community Stadium.
Mee scored the second of three Bees goals after the break - his header from Bryan Mbeumo’s corner deflecting off Carlton Morris and into the net - and dropped to the turf in celebration.
“That was for my son,” said Mee. “The bad celebration is his fault! He was telling me to get to the back post to score, but I went near post and scored! I’ll tell him that later.”
With 70 per cent possession and 27 attempts on goal, Brentford were good value for their latest Premier League victory.
But the Bees had to be patient to break the deadlock after a goalless opening half.
“After the first half it was looking difficult, and the first goal set us off,” Mee admitted.
“They’ve got a lot of pace on the counter attack, so it was important to stay concentrated. Once we got the first goal, we played with more freedom.
“It was a good game, a tough game. We came here with a gameplan and executed it. We were patient and got the goals.”
