Brentford will play West Bromwich Albion in the Carabao Cup Third Round next week. The Bees reached the last 32 of the competition for the third time in four years by beating Southampton last night. The Bees won 2-0 away to the Premier League side with Christian Nørgaard heading home the first before Josh Dasilva added a second in stoppage time at the end of the first half.
West Brom reached this stage by beating Harrogate Town last night. They had a bye in the First Round as a Premier League side while The Bees got past Wycombe Wanderers after a penalty shoot-out. The tie will be played within the next seven days and full details will follow very shortly.
The teams are very well acquianted having battled at the top of the Sky Bet Championship last season. The Bees took four points from the games between the teams but West Brom took second place and automatic promotion while Brentford finished third. This will be the third season in a row that Brentford have visited The Hawthorns to take on West Brom and the last two visits have ended 1-1. There must be a winner on this ocassion.
As per an announcement by the EFL earlier this week, every Carabao Cup Round Two, Three and Four match will be available to watch live on Sky Sports or online in September, whilst access to matches remains restricted to supporters. The game next week will not be televised and will be behind closed doors. As such, it will be streamed live online.
