Brentford will head to Sky Bet League One Play-Off finalists Shrewsbury Town for a pre-season friendly next month.

The match will be played at the Montgomery Waters Meadow on Saturday 21 July, kick-off 3pm. The game will be one of two played that day with a Behind Closed Doors friendly against Premier League opposition also scheduled. Further match and ticketing details will be confirmed nearer the date. The Shrews came agonisingly close to promotion in the season that has just finished, losing out after extra time to Rotherham United in the League One Play-Off final at Wembley.

Brentford Head Coach Dean Smith said: “We are really happy to be travelling to Shrewsbury Town and also playing against Premier League opposition on the same day. Our plan is to send well-balanced teams to both games which will enable us to give players a good run out in both, rather than having to plan the customary timings of substitutes that can sometimes upset the flow of the match.”

The confirmation of the game against Shrewsbury completes our domestic fixture programme ahead of the new campaign which will begin with a trip to Boreham Wood on Friday 6 July, kick-off 7.30pm. A week-long training camp in Germany, which it is planned will conclude with a match - still to be confirmed, then follows before The Bees head to Wycombe Wanderers on Tuesday 17 July, kick-off 7.45pm.

Our only home pre-season game sees us entertain Premier League side Watford at Griffin Park on Saturday 28 July, kick-off 3pm, with our fifth straight Sky Bet Championship campaign beginning a week later.
