Despite Sunderland and Barnsley’s relegation, the returns of Wigan Athletic, Blackburn Rovers, and Rotherham United mean that Bees fans and players will now face seven round-trips of more than 400 miles next season with Middlesbrough, Hull City, Leeds United, Preston North End, and Bolton Wanderers joining Wigan and Blackburn on that list.
At 252 miles, West Bromwich Albion are the closest of the three sides relegated from the Premier League with the trips to Stoke City and Swansea City both weighing in at more than 320 miles. Fulham’s promotion to the top flight at Aston Villa’s expense on Saturday also means there are now just three trips, those to QPR, Millwall, and Reading, which will be less than 100 miles next time around.
Only the top five won more games on the road than The Bees last season with supporters enjoying some memorable away days at Norwich City, Birmingham City, Bristol City, and Reading over the past nine months.
With the full line-up for next season’s Championship confirmed the next date in the diary is Thursday 21 June which is when we will find out the fixtures for the new season.
