Andreas Bjelland felt Brentford didn’t create enough to take the three points from this afternoon’s match against Wigan Athletic at Griffin Park. The Bees had the better of the game but failed to unduly trouble Adam Bogdan in the visitors' goal as The Latics left West London with a point. Speaking to Bees Player after the match, Andreas said the team was left frustrated after the draw especially given how well they had played at Griffin Park in recent weeks.

“We felt like we controlled the game but we weren’t dangerous in the final third of the pitch,” said Andreas. “We had a lot of corners but we weren’t dangerous from them. We were a little bit frustrated after because we want to win, especially when at home. It isn’t just about those up front, the whole team didn’t create enough. The positive thing is that we didn’t concede and we didn’t lose the game. We showed today that we want to push for the whole 90 minutes. We want to get the goal, get in front, and win in front of our home fans. We have been doing well at home this season so of course we are disappointed with a 0-0.”

Andreas recently made his return to first-team action after more than a year out with a knee injury. The defender has started four of The Bees last five matches and feels that he is starting to get back towards full match sharpness. However he admitted that playing at left-back was also taking some getting used to.

“I still need some time,” said Andreas. “I was out for over a year so it is going to take some time to get back. I also haven’t played at left back for a while so that is new for me too. It is coming so hopefully I will get better with every game. As a team and as defenders you want to keep clean sheets. We did that today and we have been doing that so far this season. You always want to keep clean sheets. Clean sheets keep you at the top of the table because you don’t lose.”

Last week Andreas also received his first call-up to the Danish International squad since July 2015 for two World Cup Qualifiers against Poland and Montenegro next weekend. The 28-year-old, who has 21 caps for his country, said getting back into the international fold was one of his goals when he returned to fitness and he is looking forward to meeting up with his countrymen again.

“I have been out for a really long time so getting back in the national team was one of the goals,” said Andreas. “I am looking forward to getting back, meeting the lads, and playing for the Danish team. When you get back playing you want to set some goals for yourself. You want to get back in the club team and then back in the national team so these things are coming. It will keep me focussed and sharp for the games. We have two important games for the national team. We will be training over the weekend too while the lads here will be off so I will be cracking on with the team.”
