Fábio Carvalho is an exciting talent who maybe we are yet to see the very best of - but the Portuguese talent could shine at Brentford.
Initially a youth product at Benfica, Carvalho soon went from Balham to Fulham after making the move to England. And it was at the Cottagers where the attacker made his name, especially during Fulham's Championship winning campaign in 2021/22.
That season, Carvalho scored 10 and assisted eight goals in the second tier when he starred for his side. Still just a teenager, the former England youth international managed to be one of the most productive players in the division (joint 17th) despite making 36 appearances out of a possible 46.
Naturally, such an impressive season earned Carvalho a move to one of the country's biggest clubs when he made the switch to Liverpool in the summer of 2022.
The youngster found it difficult to break through into Jürgen Klopp's team, which is no surprise given the talented options already available. Yet Carvalho did still manage to score against Bournemouth, Newcastle United (last-minute winner at Anfield) and Manchester City in his 21 games that year.
Last season, the club elected to send Carvalho out on loan. After spending the first part of the season at RB Leipzig (playing 15 times in total), it was at Hull City where we began to see the best of him once again.
Back in his old Championship stomping ground, Carvalho shone with the Tigers featuring in 20 league games, where he managed an impressive nine goals, as well as a pair of assists. Remarkably, that output put Carvalho third of Hull's players for direct goal involvements, despite only joining the club in January.
With two key passes per game in the second half of the season, Carvalho showed the creativity he is capable of and something that Brentford's strikers will be very keen to latch on to.
Those nine goals during his Hull stint also showed what a goal threat he is on his own. Only six Championship players scored more goals in 2024 than Carvalho - and not many of them were able to score as many spectacular ones.
Three of Carvalho's nine were brilliant finishes, in particular his rocket of a shot from the outside of the area against West Bromwich Albion back in February.
When Carvalho is on the edge of the area, defenders must get out to him as he has no problems finding the target from long range.
Throughout his career, when given the opportunity, he has shown that he is a brilliant player to watch, who is a potential match-winner at any time.
The 21-year-old has a very high ceiling that Thomas Frank will be keen to help him find.
