Alex Pritchard has received special recognition from the Football League for his performance in Brentford’s win over AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.
The 21-year-old scored one – a spectacular long-range free kick – and made two more, scored by Jonathan Douglas and Chris Long, as The Bees beat promotion hopefuls Bournemouth at Griffin Park.
The strike took his tally for the season to seven in 32 games during a season-long loan from Tottenham Hotspur.
The goal, plus two assists, in the 3-1 win was enough to earn him a place in the Football League Team of the Week.
The team, published on the Football League website, is drawn from the performances over the previous seven days in all three Sky Bet Football League divisions.
Alex was named in the selection this week.
It is the second time he has received the accolade in a month – he was also named after scoring the winner as The Bees beat Norwich City at Carrow Road in late January.
Five other Bees have been named in the Football League Team of the Week this season.
Jake Bidwell was selected after setting up two goals as The Bees beat Brighton and Hove Albion 3-2 in September and Douglas was named after scoring twice in a week, against Watford and Leeds United, at the start of October.
After The Bees beat Nottingham Forest and Millwall away in the space of three days at the start of November Andre Gray, who scored three goals in the two wins, was selected, and Brentford Manager Mark Warburton was named as best boss that week.
Jota has also been named once – after scoring a spectacular goal in Brentford’s win at Cardiff City just before Christmas.
Youngster Alfie Mawson, on loan at Wycombe Wanderers, was also named in December after scoring his first professional goal in a win at Hartlepool United.
