Alan Judge said it was a very exciting time to join Brentford Football Club.
The Irish midfield player joined The Bees on loan from Blackburn Rovers for the rest of the 2013/14 season yesterday.
He joins a squad that is top of Sky Bet League One and on a great run of form.
The Bees have won their last seven league games in a row and 12 of their last 13 in League One, taking 37 points from 39 games.
Alan said he had never been promoted and wanted to achieve it at Brentford.
“To come to Brentford at this time is very exciting,” said Alan, speaking to Bees Player yesterday.
“I haven’t got a promotion on my CV.
“It’s something I want.
“You’d rather come to a club like this than one that is mid-table.
“There is something to play for; I am looking forward to it.
Alan, a former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, started his career at Blackburn Rovers and tuned professional with the Lancashire club when he was 17.
But he is best known for his time at Notts County.
He joined County on loan from Blackburn and then moved permanently in January 2011
In three years at Meadow Lane, both on loan and after joining permanently, Alan played 112 games and scored 17 goals.
He was named Supporters’ and Players’ ‘Player of the Year’ at Notts County at the end of the 2011/12 season and was given a spot in the PFA League One Team of the Year last season.
Alan left County and moved back to Blackburn in the summer.
He has made 12 appearances for Rovers this season, 11 of them in The Sky Bet Championship, and scored once.
Alan said he knew there was a good quality of football in Sky Bet League One and after speaking to Brentford Manager Mark Warburton he wanted to come to Griffin Park.
“When I heard Brentford wanted me, I spoke to the manager and a few more people and I wanted to come straight away,” he said.
“I know the football is good in League One and I have come to the club that is top of the league.
“I don’t think there is enough credit given to League One for the amount of football that is played.
“There is a small difference in quality but it is very similar in a lot of the things that are done.
“Mark is a nice man, he knows what he wants.
“He has the team playing nice attacking football.
“He knows what I am like as a player, he has seen me once or twice.
“It was a no-brainer to come.”
Alan said he knew he may have to bide him time before he gets a chance but he was determined to take it.
He told Bees Player he had not played a lot recently but felt sharp.
“Brentford had a great December,” said Alan.
“I am probably going to have to wait to get in to the team.
“I then have to take my chance.
“You don’t change a winning team.
“Most managers will keep it the same unless they have to change it.
“I have to bide my time and do what I can do if I come on.
“I haven’t played for about three months, a proper run of games.
“I love playing and this loan gives me time to get back to fitness, I am looking forward to it.
“I feel sharp but it may be one or two games before I reach full fitness.
“You only get that by playing.”
Alan said he would be moving to London with his girlfriend and daughter and did so quickly once he had decided to join Brentford.
“It was a big decision to come, I have a little girl that is four months old, but my girlfriend was very understanding,” he said.
“The move was quick.
“I did it within two days.
“We were both happy to come and got it done as quickly as we could.”
