Brentford Under-18s kick off their FA Youth Cup campaign against Tottenham Hotspur Under-18s on Tuesday in the young Bees first game in front of fans at Wheatsheaf Park.
Set for a 7pm start, the third-round clash will be Brentford’s second against a category one academy so far this season, as they look to advance after being knocked out by Aston Villa at this point of the competition last season.
With over 800 fans packing the Wheatsheaf Park stand for both of Brentford B's opening two clashes at the stadium, Lydia Bedford's side will now get their turn to play in front of an energetic Bees crowd.
Last time out
The young Bees secured a draw last time out in the South East Youth Alliance League, coming from one goal down twice to draw 2-2 with Northampton Town.
Emeka Peters struck first for Brentford in the first half, the speedy attacker receiving a cross from Ethan Laidlaw and finding the back of the net from close range. Adam Poliakov equalised for the young Bees in the second half, his header beating the Northampton Town keeper off a Freddie Taylor cross.
It was the fourth time in the last six games that Brentford U18s have scored multiple goals, a period which has seen them win twice, draw twice and lose twice.
One of those draws came against current table leader’s Luton Town in a gritty performance, a display the young Bees will need to draw on come Tuesday night.
About Tottenham Hotspur Under-18s
Tottenham Hotspur Under-18s sit atop the U18 Premier League South table, with seven wins and two losses from their nine games.
Tottenham were impressive last time out, putting together a 4-1 win over Leicester City away from home. The performance returned Tottenham to winning ways, having lost 5-2 to Crystal Palace in their previous contest.
The side has had no issues finding the back of the net, scoring 30 goals in league action so far this season. Mikey Moore has been a key reason behind this, the youngster scoring eight times in seven league matches.
