Brentford put on a strong display as they beat Bournemouth 3-2 in the Professional Development League on Tuesday at Canford Park.

The young Bees took an early lead through Greg Asemokhai only for Bournemouth to level just before the break. Otis Honor scored two minutes into the second half directly from a corner but Bournemouth fought back to level again after the hour mark. Domeiro Bobb-Semple won the game for Brentford with a neat finish on 68 minutes.

Brentford headed into the game in good spirits after snatching an injury-time draw just three days ago against QPR.

Bournemouth had the first chance of the game five minutes in when Johnny Day latched onto a loose Brentford pass, but the forwards strike went just wide of the left post.

Day thought he had found the opener for the hosts moments later when he turned home the rebound after Conor Wolfheimer made a good save but the linesman’s flag denied the forward.

The young Bees were a presence in the box as always from set-pieces.

On 20 minutes the visitors took the lead with Asemokhai scoring his second header in two games.

The defender got on the end of a flick on from Isaiah Powis to head his side in front.

Shield nearly doubled Brentford’s lead half hour in when he struck the ball from outside the box, but Bournemouth’s Will Upstell made a good stop.

The young Bees were playing some great football in the opening half and had two more chances to extend their lead just before the break.

The first chance fell to Domeiro Bobb-Semple who met an excellent cross from Naeem Giscombe at the far post, but the forward couldn’t generate any power with his shot as he stretched from the ball.

Moments later Adam Poliakov broke through the Bournemouth defence with his shot from the right side of the box going inches wide of the far post.

Bournemouth were the side who snatched a late goal in the opening half despite all of Brentford’s pressure.

Tommy Whitehead met the ball at the far post after a late run levelling for his side.

Any frustrations Brentford had following Bournemouth’s late goal went away just two minutes into the second half.

Honor’s in swinging corner curled over a cramped box and found the far left corner leaving the Cherries stunned.

Bournemouth had a huge chance to level the game again just two minutes later when they were awarded a penalty following an Isaiah Powis challenge.

Brentford’s luck was in though as Charlie Stevens’ spot-kick went wide.

Conor Wolfheimer made a good save an hour in to deny Day’s shot as Bournemouth put on the pressure.

Bournemouth were finally rewarded for their pressure after the hour mark when Day broke through the Brentford defence.

The forward showed composure to take the ball around Wolfheimer before finding the back of the net.

Brentford continued to fight for the lead and on 68 minutes got themselves ahead once again.

This time it was Bobb-Semple who finished brilliantly finding the bottom left corner with a powerful strike.

Brentford defended well to see out their lead as they went on to earn all three points.
