Brentford Under-18s went down 6-2 to a strong Atletico Madrid Under-18 side on Tuesday night.

A penalty from Ollie Shield and a goal by Emeka Peters helped the young Bees hit the scoreboard in their clash at Atletico de Madrid Training Centre, the first game of their Spain tour.

The home side started the clash in attacking fashion, seeing some reward for effort on six minutes with the opening goal.

They were awarded a penalty two minutes later, however it was well saved by Connor Wolfheimer, the second penalty save in as many games for the Brentford keeper.

Atletico found their second soon after, however the young Bees were quick to answer back to make it 2-1. Shield fired a shot from just inside the box that was well blocked, however it fell to a trialist who found Shield again and was taken down, earning a penalty which he scored from on 14 minutes.

Atletico found two more goals inside the 20-minute mark to make it 4-1, however the second half of the opening 45 minutes was an even contest, the scoreline staying put at the break.

The young Bees continued their strong play as the second half began, managing to shut down Atletico’s possession quicker than the first half.

As the hour mark passed neither side had penetrated the other defensive line. The home side came close on 67 minutes, their shot smashing off the post.

Omaru King came off the bench and had an immediate impact, the young Bee running down the left side and crossing into the box, however the ball just beat Peters.

The home side added two quick goals as 70 minutes passed, their lead growing to five goals with 20 minutes to play.

Brentford saw some reward for effort just before full-time, Remy Bennison's cross finding Peters who tapped it in from close range.
