Jake Reeves said Brentford’s 2013/14 season had been a successful one for him personally, as well as for the team.
The Bees won promotion from Sky Bet League One, finishing second in the table.
Jake played 25 games in all competitions, 20 in League One, during the season, and scored his first professional goal in an FA Cup with Budweiser tie against Staines Town.
Speaking to Bees Player after the season had end, Jake said the season had moments he would always remember and it was great to be involved.
“It has been a positive season,” he said.
“We have done very well as a team to win promotion.
“And on a personal note, I have played more games that I have done before.
“It has been a successful season.
“There are moments this season that I will remember when I hang my boots up.
“It was great to be on the pitch for some of the big moments this season.”
After the final game of the season, Jake – along with the rest of the Brentford players and management – was presented with a medal to mark promotion.
“It was good to get a medal, especially at the age of 20,” said the midfield player.
“I didn’t know what to make of it.
“Everyone was screaming and it was a great feeling.
“It was a nice feeling.”
Jake joined Brentford at the age of 16 from Tottenham Hotspur.
He turned professional in the summer of 2011 and has established himself in the First Team squad.
Jake was the first player to come through after the Club made the decision to invest heavily in the youth structure.
He has been followed by Charlie Adams and Josh Clarke, now also in the First Team squad.
Jake said he would try to help all the young players following in his footsteps.
“The Club hasn’t, in recent years, for whatever reason, had players come through,” he said.
“They have changed the set-up now.
“I have come through and there are others coming behind.
“It is a good pressure to be the first.
“I have always spoken to the young players I know, I came through with Charlie Adams and Josh Clarke.
“The younger ones can talk to me and they all know that.
“I always do that when I play in the Development Squad matches.”
Brentford will be in The Championship next season and Jake said to play in the second tier would be “massive”.
“It will mean everything to play in The Championship,” he said.
“It is one division off the best league in the world.
“It’s a massive league to try and get a game in.
“If I played in it at a young age, it would be massive.”
Brentford return to pre-season training on June 25 and Jake said his summer plans will no change from recent years.
“My summer will be the same as for the past three years,” he said.
“I will try and come back as fit as possible and get in the squad.
“That won’t change.”
