A Brentford supporter is among those taking on a charity challenge later this year.
Simon Cox, a long-standing Bees fan, is one of those taking part in the 92 plus 1 challenge.
A team of four, which includes a former professional footballer and an Academy coach at Swindon Town, will leave Wembley Stadium on Friday October 11 after England’s World Cup qualifier against Montenegro.
They will then visit all 92 Premier League and Football League clubs in the 2013/14 Premiership, Championship, League One and League competitions and aim to return to Wembley in time for the kick-off of England’s next game, a World Cup qualifier against Poland on Tuesday October 15.
A car of four people will leave Wembley and drive two to three hour shifts each to each ground, photograph themselves at the stadium and then drive to the next one.
The 2,600 mile round trip will raise money for Help for Heroes, the charity that supports service personnel wounded during Britain’s recent conflicts.
The foursome want to raise awareness and funds for the charity by collecting sponsorship from people and businesses wanting to support our challenge and help the charity.
The charity was chosen as there are ex forces personnel in the team – Darren Young served with the Royal Air Force while Mark Burns is a serving member as well as being a coach at Swindon.
Simon Cox and Mike Peters, who was on the books at Wycombe Wanderers, complete the starting line-up.
Simon, from Wellingborough, said: “I am football mad and passionate about the game.
“I have always wanted to do this challenge and visit the 92 league clubs.
“I can’t wait for October.
“I enjoy raising money for charities and knowing that we can make a difference to those that have helped to protect us adds more excitement to the challenge.”
