Wigan's 2017/18 Season
League Position: 1st in League One (Promoted)
Average league attendance: 9,151
Top league goal-scorer: Will Grigg (19)
The League One Champions came back to the second tier at the first time of asking, storming to the top of the table and staying strong throughout the 17/18 campaign. Will Grigg was the star of the show from the front, netting 19 in the league and Nick Powell followed up with 15 from midfield.
Paul Cook, gaining a reputation for building strong promotion-hunting teams, is at the reins in the second of his three-year contract. The squad has a strong core in players like Dan Burn, Powell, Max Power and Grigg. Some strong additions and The Latics could make a push for promotion to the top table almost straight away. They're a dangerous side with power and ambition, The Bees will have to be wary of them next season.

THE MANAGER
Paul Cook brought The Latics back to the Championship at the first time of asking, exactly a year after he lead Portsmouth to the League Two title. Before that, Cook was at the reins of Chesterfield when he also got them out of the fourth tier. A man with a track record for building winning teams, the Wigan owners must be looking forward to seeing what he can acheive next term.
THE KEY MAN
Nick Powell 2017/18: 39 appearances, 15 goals
The former Manchester United midfielder found his feet with Wigan last season, making himself a key player from start to finish. The 24-year-old joined Athletic in July 2016, failing to help them avoid relegation to League One a year later. Stepping into the ring, surrounded by better players and lead by a better boss, Powell came up with 15 goals last term, the second-highest in the team behind former Bee Will Grigg.
