West Brom's 2017/18 Season

League Position: 20th in Premier League (Relegated)

Average league attendance: 24,520

Top league goal-scorers: Jay Rodriguez, Salomon Rondon (7)

Finishing rock bottom of the Premier League last season hides the fact that under Darren Moore they look like a brand new side. Unfortunately for Baggies fans, the Moore era landed a little too late in the West Midlands to save the club from relegation.

Under Tony Pulis until November, West Brom won their first two games of the season, and then nothing more. Games fell even under new coach Alan Pardew until January, when the side beat Brighton at home. Cut to April 2018, with Pardew gone and an eight-game losing streak behind them, they looked destined to drop into the Championship.

Darren Moore came in and proved to be a genius when it came getting the squad firing again. Manchester United fell to a 1-0 defeat, they decked Newcastle for the same score and then hit Spurs with a one-goal victory as well. A defeat to Crystal Palace on the final day was a harsh way to end a great final few weeks.

Next season, they need to rebuild to get back to the top flight. Having already sold a few key players, including Jonny Evans, the transition has already started.

THE MANAGER

Darren Moore quit the professional game six years ago, hanging up his boots with Burton Albion before joining a coaching career with West Brom. Making his way through the ranks with The Baggies, he eventually stepped into the interim manager's role in April last season.

The squad went unbeaten for the rest of the month, with Moore praised for his ability to motivate the squad where previous boss Alan Pardew couldn't. Named the Premier League Manager of the Month, the side were then relegated as he failed to pull off an absolute miracle. On 18 May, Albion made him permanent Head Coach.

THE KEY MAN

Chris Brunt 2017/18: 26 appearances

The captain and Northern Irish international is a guiding figure in the Baggies' dressing room. A key figure down the left wing, Brunt has been with West Brom since August 2007 and always made over 20 appearances in the league.

Originally with Sheffield Wednesday, he now has over 60 caps for his country and is an established player in the top flight. Now 33, the Club Captain will hope to help his side back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
