A second consecutive season in England's second tier wasn't one that City fans will write home about. Despite finding a fantastic talent in attaking midfielder James Maddison, the rest of the squad couldn't support him enough to get into the top half of the Championship, let alone the top six.

November and December were terrible months in the form book for The Canaries, and it really set them on their way to a low finish. It took two goals from Lasse Vibe to beat them in December before they returned the favour in January.

Next season, whether Maddison leaves or not, they have several loan players returning to their parent clubs - including last year's goalkeeper Angus Gunn. Now would be the time to rebuild and Head Coach Daniel Farke know that.

Daniel Farke took over at Carrow Road in the summer after two years as Head Coach of Borussia Dortmund II. Farke's playing career was dominated by three spells with SV Lippstadt 08, the club with whom he started his managerial career in 2009.

The 41-year-old spent six years with SV, earning back-to-back promotions from the Westfalenliga to the Regionalliga West, the fourth tier of German football. In 2015, Farke took over from Huddersfield boss David Wagner at Borussia II, a position he held until May last year when he headed to East Anglia.

The Key Man

With rumours circling of a bid for this talented young midfielder, it seems like Norwich will have to work hard to keep James Maddison this summer.

The highest goalscorer of any Canary last season, his 14 goals contributed a big part in steering well clear of the relegation zone. He played over 40 games for the squad and that has seen interested parties pop up around the country, especially in the top flight.

Maddison worked his magic at Griffin Park earlier last year when his goal from distance proved the only one that mattered in a 1-0 loss during the Christmas period. Next season, Norwich need to focus their attack-building and squad recruitment with him in mind if they want to get out of this division.
